Following the Civil War in Sierra Leone 1999 it was recognised that there was a massive Humanitarian need. Various talks and meetings were instigated and the Hastings UK and Hastings Sierra Leone was set up. Closely followed by the establishment of HSLFL UK.
Various schools, churches and businesses set about raising funds to assist HSLFL UK in Hastings Sierra Leone in refurbishing the Health Centre, promoting primary healthcare and schools’ partnerships and rebuilding bridges.
Regular visits from Hastings UK have allowed teachers, cooks, health care teams and business reps to see first-hand how funding is benefitting those in need, and gives them an opportunity to be involved personally in the projects. Our own Aunty Yvonne, herself from Sierra Leonne, has been instrumental in involving The Church of the Good Shepherd, Collier Row in our support of HSLFL. She has visited the projects herself on several occasions.
We at The Church of the Good Shepherd are Blessed to be able to financially and prayerfully support the work of HSLFL.

Congo Children Trust is a UK based charity which supports the Kimbilio project, formed in 2009 to better the lives of unsupported children living on the streets in D R Congo. Kimbilio, meaning sanctuary, protects, nurtures, educates, and empowers the most vulnerable children in D.R. Congo. From the bustling streets of Lubumbashi to the remote mining areas where children toil each day, the project has touched the lives of thousands of children, offering them safety, education, and a path to a better life.
The Church of the Good Shepherd honours Jesus’ command to feed, clothe and care for the needy by supporting Kimbilio financially, and through the work of Kimbilio Sewers and Kimbilio Knitters, who meet each month to create small articles which can be sold to further assist the Kimbilio project. Through our link partner at Kimbilio we are able to link to the children directly and see the impact of our work. Members have also visited the project regularly since 2014.

Middle East Media (MEM) is an international Christian charity founded in Lebanon 50 years ago.
MEM’s vision is to see the people of the Middle East reconciled to the loving God and equipped to creatively transform their communities. Their local teams, who understand their region and culture best, lead and create all the work in the region.
Each year, MEM reaches millions online with the Gospel and supports thousands of people in person with their emotional and spiritual well-being.
MEM was behind the launch of a few notable Christian organisations, including SAT-7, the first Christian TV channel in the Arab world, and Middle East Concern, a Christian human rights organisation. MEM also developed the first downloadable Arabic Bible for mobiles, Arabic Veggie Tales and Magalla magazine, which was the bestselling youth magazine in the Arab world for 30 years.
Today their teams of local Arabs produce high-quality creative media (films, documentaries, apologetics videos, animations etc,) that share Christ’s love, hope and freedom. They also distribute content via digital platforms, TV and direct outreach to disadvantaged groups.
They also build new media ministries and help them to share the Gospel in their local communities. In recent years, they’ve supported ministries from Turkey, Morocco, Northern Iraq, Libya, Sudan, South Sudan and the Gulf.
